COOLIEF* Lumbar Cooled Radiofrequency System for Lumbar Z-Joint Pain

Harness the Power of Cooled RF for a Simpler Solution to Lumbar Pain

“The prevalence of chronic lumbar zygapophysial joint pain ranges from 15% in younger patients to as high as 40% among elderly patients. The only proven treatment for this source of back pain is radiofrequency medial branch neurotomy.” 1

COOLIEF* Cooled RF Now Configured for Obturator and Femoral Neurotomy

“In our experience, percutaneous radiofrequency lesioning of the sensory branches of the nerves innervating the hip joint can be an option for patients with intractable hip joint pain”4

An estimated 7% of men and 10% of women over the age of 45 suffer from chronic hip joint pain, primarily caused by degeneration of the articular cartilage due to injury or disease. When rest, anti-inflammatory drugs or physical therapy fail to address the pain of osteoarthritis (OA) of the hip, the only remaining solution is total hip replacement for over 400,000 patients a year who progress to this invasive surgical intervention.

However, hip replacement procedures are costly, and there exists a large demographic of chronic joint pain patients who are not candidates for invasive procedures due to BMI, age, other co-morbidities or an unwillingness to undergo major surgery.

Large volume, anatomy-specific lesion encompasses the medial branch nerve in one pass, eliminating the need for multiple passes.

Radiofrequency neurotomy is recognized as an effective minimally invasive treatment for chronic pain originating in the facet joints. But in order to deliver relief for patients, successful RF lesioning requires reaching the pain source. The COOLIEF* Lumbar Cooled Radiofrequency System uses revolutionary cooling technology for lumbar medial branch neurotomy. Many patients may fail standard RF treatments, or have a challenging anatomy. The COOLIEF* Cooled RF System enables placement of a large volume, spherical lesion encompassing the medial branch nerve in one pass, eliminating the need for multiple passes.

The COOLIEF* Cooled RF Pain Management System is a revolution in radiofrequency technology – giving physicians the power of targeted treatment for symptomatic patients, even in difficult to treat spine anatomy.
